Supply practically unlimited.

the spot, the Conduit will have a Stone bottom and brick Sides, its floor and Sides being made water tight by rendering them in neat Portland Cement. The top will be covered with rough granite slabs,
and the structure will in
every way agree
with
the descriptions given of the same in previous correspondence between this Government, the Colonial Office and Mr Rawlinson.
Ravines will be crossed by Cast iron Syphon pipes furnished with wire screens at their
inlet mouths and with wash out-valves and
Valves at their lowest depressions.
Bywash overflows will be provided at convenient intervals and ventilators at every hundred yards or so. At every
half mile there will be a sand pit,
and a 12 inch washout valve.
The Conduit which is 3½ Miles long will be built in short Straight lengths with level bottom and vertical falls, the resulting gradient between its two extreme ends being 1 in 326, this being the difference of level between its source and its terminus, or in other words between the reservoir Outlet Culvert and the highest of the Public tanks in this City. I may add that the height of this tank is sufficient to serve the highest districts of the City.
On the line of Conduit there will be a
short heading 120 yards in length, with this exception, the work will be of the easiest description as the
hill slopes
are not steep and there are but few intervening ravines.
The Conduit will have but three way
side Bulwarks
